Here is new information to make you aware of the exciting happenings at the El Quartelejo ruins in the state park. The Kansas State Historical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (owners of the site), and The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks have joined forces and are preparing to raise funds to construct a visitor center and building to preserve and help to interpret this historic and unique place. It is the top priority of the DAR, as well as the Historical Society. There was a meeting held in Scott City the week of March 12th, to explain the procedure that will be followed. The state architect showed a preliminary sketch and the DAR had a sample fund raising brochure to peruse. (Provided by Larry Hoeme---3/24/06)
