"Good Things" in Scott City, Kansas

This page is to share the letters I receive from people in Scott City and away.  I love to hear from everyone!

(A note from Brian Metzger---please help him out! 4.24.09)

Hello everybody,

I am currently completing an independent study project at KU (in pursuit of my MBA) concerning the practicality of a Wellness Center in Scott County. In order to poll the citizens, we have constructed a survey which will take no more than 10 minutes to complete and is available at:

http://surveynet.business.ku.edu/TakeSurvey.aspx?SurveyID=94KI3m2

I would really appreciate you offering your feedback and opinion on this topic. Clicking on the link will provide a more detailed description of this project and allow you to express your opinion anonymously. If you have questions, please feel free to call or send an email anytime. My team and I would appreciate you forwarding this to other residents of the area as you see fit.

Thank you,

Brian Metzger

I am involved in a bunch of different horse and rodeo associations and you may or may not know that Scott City hosts several large events a year. We have some of the nicest equine facilities in this half of the state. I’d be happy to help keep you up with the events if this is something you think people would be interested in on your site. For example, Scott City will again host the Kansas Pro Rodeo Finals in September and is the home of the Sunflower Barrel racing futurity, a nationally ranked NBHA futurity. Sue Nickel held a Quarter horse show which was advertised statewide and nationally and I believe she is planning another for this year (although I haven’t checked with her recently about that.) Scott City is a well-known stop for pro-rodeo travelers to spend the night as they travel the country. We have had several NFR qualifying horses spend the night in our fairground stalls. How many world-ranked human athletes choose Scott City as a rest stop?

Just a few thoughts. Let me know if I can help in this area.

Marian,
My 9th graders have written stories for the Young Author’s Contest this year. They have done this as a class for the contest and also for a grade in my class. We will bind all of the stories written and put them in the school library. It took two volumes last year and will again this year. It is a fun thing to do and the students, for the most part, are excited and eager to find out who wins. This year I would like to get a group to go to the  reception to support their class winner.

Hello,

I have been to your website a number of times and enjoy checking it out. I grew up in Scott City and still consider it to be my home town. Graduating class of 1975.

I would love to have you add a link to my website Images of Nature www.ibishawkimages.com to your website.

Please feel free to review the site as you will find a large number of images from Kansas, especially the Scott City area. I have enjoyed photography for thirty years and would love to have you take a look.

Looking forward hearing what you think.

As you can see I am currently working at the University of Miami.

Thanks again

Here is the information: Rhythm Class, every Monday evening that shcool is in session at 4:00-5:00pm at First Christian Church and TeamKIDS, every Monday that school is in session at 5:00-6:00pm at First Christian Church.

I am a new board member for the Chamber of Commerce. I would like to put more of our events on your website. In two days of research, yours is the most comprehensive website about our community that I have found. Thank you for your hard work in keeping this site nice and up to date!

Dear Marian,

I just wanted to say thanks for all of your work on the site. My Uncle Ken Hoover told me about this site. And now it has become one of my favorites. It is good to get newsy news and info from Kansas when I live in Virginia. After the fastness of life here it is nice to slow down and go to Kansas for a bit. Thanks !

Just in case you do not remember me, I am Melissa Hoover ….now Erikson. My husband was active duty Air Force but has retired to another job here in the DC/Northern Virginia area. I have 2 kiddos…one in college and the other a junior in high school.

Again ….Thanks

Melissa (Hoover) Erikson~~~Class of 1977

Marian--

We have a scrapbooking club that is growing, but we’re not sure everyone knows about it! I visit your new website regularly and it occurred to me that this might be a way to get the information out to the community. Thank you!
