Anne Lampe is now the national President of the American Angus Auxiliary. Anne has worked long and hard to promote the Angus breed. She and her family raise registered Angus cattle here in Scott County, continuing her long experience from childhood. The Kansas Angus Association is very familiar with her efforts, since she serves as their publicist and field secretary. Congratulations to Anne on this outstanding honor from the largest cattle breed association!

Auxiliary Elects Officers, Conducts Annual Meeting
As the organization prepares to celebrate its 60th anniversary in the upcoming year, the American Angus Auxiliary reports several announcements from its recent annual meeting held on Nov. 12, in conjunction with the 2011 North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE), in Louisville, Ky. The Auxiliary elected officers, named regional directors and kicked off anniversary celebrations.
Members of the newly-elected 2011-2012 officer team are: Anne Lampe, Scott City, Kan., president; Cortney Hill-Dukehart-Cates, Modoc, Ind., president-elect; Cortney Holshouser, Castalia, N.C., secretary-treasurer; and Barbara Ettredge, Pilot Point, Texas, advisor.
Auxiliary members are proud to welcome Holshouser, who has served as president, president-elect and secretary/treasurer of the North Carolina Angus Auxiliary. She also serves as the advisor for the North Carolina Junior Angus Association.
The Auxiliary’s six regional directors are: Mary K. Vejraska, Omak, Wash.; Julie Murnin, Abilene, Texas; Lynne Hinrichsen, Westmoreland, Kan.; Martha Holshouser, Gold Hill, N.C.; Leslie Mindemann, Sullivan, Wis.; and Marlene Dukehart, Sykesville, Md.
To begin 60th anniversary celebrations, a commemorative print by CJ Brown, titled “Proud Past, Bright Future,” was auctioned at the annual Auxiliary Breakfast, Nov. 13, at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center (KFEC). Cathy Watkins from Middletown, Ind., purchased the painting. Prints are also available for purchase at www.angusauxiliary.com.
There are many ways to get involved with the Auxiliary in the upcoming year. A conference is scheduled for spring 2012 that will bring together Angus cattlewomen, Auxiliary members and other women involved in the livestock industry. The conference is sponsored by the Angus Foundation. More information will be posted online as it becomes available.
The American Angus Auxiliary consists of individuals interested in the welfare of the Angus breed. Its members work to provide educational activities for junior Angus members, such as scholarship programs, awards and competitions.
