AAC Contests for the Kids

"What I Like About Scott City" is the theme for the poster contest in conjunction with the All-American City Celebration on 13 August.  Entries are due to the library on or before Friday, 12 August at 5:00 p.m.  The posters will be on display from 1:00-5:00 p.m. on 13 August at the Scott County Library.  A concert will be held on Saturday, 13 August at 3:00 p.m. in the library featuring Terry Wright and the Peanut Butter Hamster Band.  This is music you and your kids will love!

Finalists Named for 2011 All-America City Award

Denver, Colorado--The National Civic League (NCL) today announced the finalists for the All-America City Awards, the annual competition for civic activists and community problem-solvers.  The 2011 awards event will be June 15-17 in Kansas City, Missouri.

“We’re very excited about this year’s participants, a very strong group of contenders with great civic projects to brag about,” said NCL President Gloria Rubio-Cortés.  “These communities have tackled everything from tsunami preparedness to environmental sustainability, education, gang violence and economic development.”

Santa Saturdays Are Here!

"Santa Saturdays" arrive uptown in Scott City on 4 December!  Don't miss Santa Claus at 3 Phase Laser on Highway 96 from 4:00-6:30 p.m.  A lighted Christmas Parade will follow at 7:00 p.m.  There will be food, caroling, prizes---all in your home town!  An ornament hunt for shoppers will be held in over 20 businesses throughout the town.  Just look for a flyer that tells you that the business is participating.
