Vocalists Headed to State Choir

Congratulations to the following SCHS singers:  Alex Myers (Senior and 2nd year State Choir Member), Catherine Huck (Junior), Evelyn Craig (Junior) and Jessie Woofter (Junior).  The four SCHS students auditioned in the fall of 2010 and were selected as members of the Kansas Music Education Association State Honor Choir.  From February 24th to February 26th, these vocalists will rehearse with 200 Kansas high school singers from across the state, directed by the renowned choral clinician, Dr. Craig Jessop from Utah State University.  The State Honor Choir will present a concert on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Century II Concert Hall in Wichita, KS at 1:15 p.m. Tickets are available for this concert online at www.wichitatix.com .

Further congratulations also go to the SCHS select girls’ ensemble, Sugar and Spice.  An audition recording of this group was submitted last spring to a Kansas Music Education Association Inservice Workshop performance committee.  Sugar and Spice was selected to perform at this prestigious event.  The vocal group is preparing a 25 minute program for music teachers across the state.  The performance is Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 8:15 a.m. in the Hyatt Hotel Ballroom, Room 203, next to Century II Convention Hall.  Admission is free.  Sugar and Spice members are Katelin Murphy, Krista Kucharik, Callan Rice, Breanna Emahizer, Rachel Anliker, Leiken Hickey, Katie Brau, Kelsey Kuckelman, Andrea Smith, Jenee Davis, Ashley Simmons, Shannon Blair, Catherine Huck, Evelyn Craig, Katie Hopkins, Jordann Becker.

Our vocal program is tops!!!  A big shout-out to choral director Amy Norris and accompanist Beth Hess!
