Glenn O'Neil has been featured in the Garden City Telegram as "Area Coach of the Year"!
Now, we all know that he has been our "Coach" for the past fifteen or so years! Glenn is a stand-out as a coach and mentor. He and Jenny have much to be proud of, with their wonderful family. We thank him for the countless hours he has spent with our young men on the court and in the field. As always, "Well Done"!
The teachers, administration, and staff of the Scott Community High School would like to announce that the Scott City fans and SCHS won the 2011 KSHSAA 3A State Basketball Tournament Sportsmanship Award. This award was received based on the positive and respectful actions of Scott City’s Cheerleaders, Student Cheering Section, Team Players, Team Coaches, and Fans. A Good Thing!!!
SCHS would also like to announce that our wrestling team received the KWCA Academic State Championship Team 3-2-1A 1st team award for a team GPA of 3.42. Another great thing! Congratulations to our wrestling student-athletes.
We as a community have so much to be proud of in these students, and in our community. We know we have the best and most loyal fans around. As someone who has the privilege of traveling to regional and state music with our soloists, I can say that no other community fills each and every room for each and every performance of every vocal and instrumental group and soloist that we take to contest. The judges are always amazed. It doesn't happen with just our sports teams. This town supports our school activities and our 4-H kids to the hilt! Thank you!
The SCHS Cheer Squad is having a “Celebration of State Champions” (pep rally) for our two state Wrestling Champions and the State Champion Basketball team on Wednesday, 30 March, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the SCHS Gymnasium. Parents and the community are welcome to attend.
Scott City's Ron Baker is on the Wichita Eagle's All-State, All-Class First Team! Wichita Eagle Story
If you want to have some fun, just go to YouTube and put in "Ron Baker Dunks". What a nice young man who is being very heavily recruited. We wish him the very best as he selects a college where he will further his career.
The SCHS Beavers Boys' Basketball Team are once again the State Champions! This is their second win at state under Coach Glenn O'Neil and Coach Scott Holt. The first championship came in 2006 in the 4A division. The boys defeated Minneapolis with a buzzer-beating lay-in by Ron Baker off of a missed three from Brett O'Neil. Minneapolis had just tied up the game in the last few seconds. The Beavers stayed calm, setting up O'Neil for the last second three, and when it came off the basket, Baker was there for the offensive rebound and put-back. Great job, guys!
scottcity.info congratulates the SCHS basketball team, Coach O'Neil, Coach Holt, the assistant coaches and supporting staff the very best on their capture of the 3A KSHSAA State Basketball title in Hutchinson! Yea, Beavers!!!
