New and Fun Fair Contests

There are several brand new and potentially very fun contests for the 2011 Scott County Free Fair.  Maybe you can find a new talent?!  Try one out!

2011 Fair Specialty Contests

Go Green Bags Contest

Go Green Bags may be any shape, size, color, or material. They can be sewn, crocheted, knitted, quilted, recycled, etc. The only limit is your imagination. Anyone may enter. Entrants may enter no more than three bags. There will be two division:, Junior is for ages up to 12 years old, and Senior is for persons 13 and older. Zucchini Contest

(The decorated vegetable contest has become a class in the gardening division.)

Grow the biggest zucchini in Scott County and WIN! Let them grow and grow and grow!!! Both weight and length will be considered! Entrants may enter more than one item and prizes will be awarded.

Round Hay Bale Contest.

Bales will be provided, so please call the Extension Office (872.2930) to reserve your bale. Prizes will be awarded. A complete list of rules will be available at the Scott County Extension Office. Use your imagination!

Duct Tape Contest

Class A. Wearable item.  Class B. Create your own.  Only one item per class per exhibitor. Items can be made with any color of duct tape and it must be created using a minimum of 90% duct tape. Prizes will be given. Scott County Free Fair reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not represent a family friendly entry.

Photo Contest

“Month by Month in Scott County” for the community 2012 calendar is the theme for this year's contest. The theme for the contest may be interpreted in many ways; please show Scott County in ACTION, especially our annual events! The contest will be judged during the Scott County Free Fair. Pictures must be taken within the boundaries of Scott County. Pictures are to be no larger than 4”x6” and no smaller than 3 1/2” x 5”. They must be labeled with the location where they were taken. Entries must be the original work of the exhibitor and must have been taken since the last county fair. Winning entries will be made into a 2012 Scott County Calendar. A photo release will be required from each individual entering the contest. Officials reserve the right to use the winning entries at their discretion. Cupcake Contest

No limit on the number of entries per person. Use your imagination and create your cupcake masterpiece. Age divisions will be split depending upon the number of participants. Creations may consist of one or more cupcakes.  An additional single cupcake must be provided in order for the judge to taste the entry. All entries will be left on display until release time on Saturday,July 23rd. Cupcakes do not have to be from scratch.  Entries must be made by the entrant. All entries will be awarded ribbon and premium money.

Scott County Market Wheat Show

Wheat samples will be collected at the Scott County elevators during harvest. Individuals may also bring a three pound sample directly to the Scott County Extension Office by July 12th. Please include your name and wheat variety on the sample. The wheat samples will be on display during the fair in the crops exhibit building.
