Diamonds and Champagne

Information from the Western Kansas Child Advocacy Center about the upcoming "Diamonds and Champgne" fundraiser (from Director Vicki Hubin):

Hi there!   I am so excited to invite you to our 4th Annual Diamonds and Champagne Fundraiser!  I want to explain a little more about the evening!

Diamonds and Champagne is scheduled for April 5, 2014, at the Majestic in Scott City.   Doors open at 6:00.   We have a happy “half”  hour from 6:00 to 6:30.  Dinner is served at 6:30.  The menu usually consists of a prime rib dinner and all the delicious stuff that goes with that.    After dinner we start the awareness piece of our evening.  This year, we have asked two very wonderful  and special ladies to be speakers and to tell their stories.    I am very proud to say that both of our speakers are part of our “100 Women” Campaign!!!!   I am not going to mention their names just yet, as I need to definitely confirm they are still willing to tell their stories.

After the awareness piece, we have a live auction.   We try to have a variety of things to auction.  Anything from jewelry, to art,  to KSU Football/Basketball, KU Basketball, WSU Basketball, to KC Royals Tickets, to quilts, tools, furniture, to a package to drive a real Nascar!  We have sold Great Wolf Lodge Packages, Condos, and Comedy Club Packages! Anything and everything you can imagine, we have sold!   We try to have several themed baskets, and these sell really well!  For instance, someone or group picks a theme, for instance, a  Gift Card Theme, BBQ Theme, a Baby Theme,  a KSU Theme, a Baked Goods Theme, your imagination is your only guideline.  So you pick a theme, and everything that goes in that basket  pertains to the theme.  This works well for clubs, church groups, youth groups,  or for anyone who would like to donate something and they aren’t sure what!   I like to pitch this idea to our teachers and sponsors at schools, as well as our youth groups, as there is nothing more exciting and rewarding than kids helping kids!    Plus, if you have a group, and everyone brings something to put in the basket, you can make a great basket for little cost to each participant!  Just anything and everything you can imagine, we sell!!

The ideas and possibilities are endless!  I have  listed just a few of the items and baskets we have sold in year’s past just to give you a few ideas.   So if you have a special talent and would like to make something, or if you have something you think people would like, or maybe would like to get a group involved, please let me know you would like to donate something for our live auction!  If you would like me to come and speak to a group and educate them about what we do and who we are, and then about making a basket, I would be available to do that also!  Remember, WE SELL ANYTHING AND APPRECIATE EVERYTHING THAT IS DONATED FOR OUR AUCTION!!!

After the live auction, is the moment everyone waits for!  We have our Diamonds Giveaway!!!   I don’t know how many diamonds we will have to give away this year, but I can assure you there will be at least one!  (Ha! Ha! Ha!)

We also have a very special presentation planned for this year!  One of our “kids”, (who is no longer a “kid”)  Brett Bussen, from Wallace County, is attending college in San Diego for film directing.  In December, he brought a film crew of 3 with him, and they made a special film presentation for us.  “A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE WKCAC!”  We spent two days filming and had a great time.  We hope to have the premiere of this film on our Diamonds and Champagne Night!   We cannot thank Brett and his crew enough for everything they did to make this presentation!  His mom, Roxy Bussen, is  “1 of our 100” Women!  And I should also mention that for our very first Diamonds and Champagne Fundraiser, Brett was one of our speakers, and he did an amazing job of bringing awareness to the people that attended that night!

The cost for the evening for each person is $50.    The ticket gets you a reserved seat, the meal, and one chance at the Diamonds!     This is a huge night for the WKCAC, as we bring awareness about child abuse,  we make some money so we can continue to deliver direct services to the kids of Western Kansas,  everyone has a tremendous time,  and you have a very special night out!!

Every year, we are very humbled by the generosity of the people of Western Kansas!!  Without the many people involved in helping us with this fundraiser by donating the many items we sell, it would not be the huge success that it is!

Seating is limited  and we have always sold out!  Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to attend, and how many.  We have started selling tickets, so if you would like to attend, please let me know!

Once again, thank you for everything you do to help the children of Western Kansas!  Also, thank you for everything you do for the WKCAC!  Without all of you, we would not be able to help as many kids as we do!!!

If I have not answered your questions, and you need further explanation, or if I have forgotten something, please let me know!  Also, if you would like to donate something for our auction, we would love to have you participate in that.  And if you would like to attend a night you will always remember, please let me know you would like to attend, and how many.  Thank you again for everything you do for the kids!!!
