Walk Kansas 2012

Walk Kansas 2012 is just around the corner!  New for 2012 is a choice of challenges.

In Challenge 1:  Each participant reaches the minimum goal for physical activity - 2 1/2 hours of moderate/vigorous activity per week. Collectively over 8 weeks, the team would walk 423 miles which is the distance across the state of Kansas.

Challenge 2: Each participant logs 6 hours of moderate/vigorous activity per week.  Collectively over 8 weeks, the team would walk 1200 miles which is the distance around the perimeter of the state. Your team can decide for themselves which challenge to take.

For the teams that choose either challenge and are successful at meeting the challenge, the team members names will be thrown in the drawing for the Walk Kansas

Celebration to be held May 15, 2012.

So, form a team today for the 2012 Walk Kansas program.  We will again give away a treadmill if we have more than 40 teams registered. If we get more than 50 teams, we will give two treadmills away. Everyone will be eligible to win the treadmill if their team completes at least the 423 mile walk across Kansas. The Walk Kansas Celebration will be held May 15. So find five other friends, family or neighbors and form a team. Each team will need to have a captain to help with the process. The cost to participate will be $7.00 per person and again we will have short and long sleeve t-shirts as well as sweatshirts available for purchase.  Registration forms are available at the Extension Office or on line at www.scott.ksu.edu. And all registrations will need to be turned in by March 9, 2012.  The kick off event will be March 19th at 5:30pm at the Scott Co. Courthouse. So, form your teams today and stop by to pick up a captain’s packet. Or, give us a call and we will deliver one to you. Remember: six people per team, registration due March 9. Please call with any questions that you have at 872-2930 or email Carol Ann Crouch at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . T-shirt colors are Navy, Hot Pink, and Purple.
